To produce an MgO product with the reactivity, consistency, and quality needed for scrubber systems, a highly sophisticated processing technology is needed. There are less than four producers in the world with this technology - Premier Magnesia is one (and the only one in the Americas).
Marine scrubbing may be a relatively new application, but the technology behind it is not new, and has been proven over decades. THE GLOBAL MARKET
Two major components are needed to produce magnesium oxide: mineral ore and mineral processing technology. Mineral deposits can be found around the world, each deposit with different chemistries. Mineral processing technology varies as well, and can range from simple rotary kilns to highly sophisticated multiple hearth furnaces. For this reason, there are many MgO products out there, and no two are the same.
As a shipping industry player, many MgO products will come your way. Having been through this process in other similar applications, we know there will be an education stage, where unsuitable MgO will be purchased, tested, brought aboard.
